Paula Juchem (b. 1974) is a Brazilian artist from Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, who lives and works in São Paulo. She studied industrial design at the Federal University of Santa Maria.
After laying out magazines at Editora Abril in São Paulo, she lived in Italy from 1998 to 2012, making illustrations from collage, pastel and gouache. According to the curator Livia Debbané, she was working as an illustrator in Milan when, in 2007, she took part in a workshop in Ravenna, where she first carried her drawings into clay. She has said that she usually draws first and then models, and that her pieces go into the kiln three, four or five times under several layers of glazes of different kinds.
Janaina Torres Galeria in São Paulo showed her with Andrey Zignnatto in Da Natureza das Coisas, which opened in December 2020, and announced in April 2021 that it represented her. In February 2022 the gallery brought her work and Zignnatto's to the Sur section of Zona Maco in Mexico City. Her first solo show at the gallery, Criatura, curated by Debbané, opened on 1 October 2022 with about 30 previously unshown ceramic sculptures, two of them columns more than three meters tall. In July 2024 the gallery announced that the Instituto Inhotim would receive more than 40 of her ceramic sculptures. That September Largo das Artes in Rio de Janeiro opened Sistemas para Fugir da Catástrofe, her first solo show in the city, with ceramic sculpture, paintings and watercolors.
In December 2025 Casa Vogue reported that she was one of four artists in the first phase of Atoriē, a project that invited artists to carry their repertoires into furniture; her pieces include the Tropicália table. In January 2026 Galeria Claraboia in São Paulo included her work in Inconformadas, Ana Avelar's exhibition of women artists working in abstraction. In May 2026 her long, articulated ceramic structures, which she calls Sucuris, were shown in Depois do passado, antes do futuro, the inaugural exhibition of the Galápagos Capital Art House in Porto Feliz, São Paulo state, scheduled through 30 October 2026. In August 2026 Claraboia showed her work at SP-Arte Rotas in São Paulo.
