Systems to avoid catastrophe

In 2024 this painting's title, Sistemas para fugir da catástrofe (Systems to Avoid Catastrophe), also named Paula Juchem's first solo show in Rio de Janeiro, at Largo das Artes, a downtown venue, with Janaina Torres Galeria of São Paulo, curated by Maíra Marques. Its announcement says the show explored mutualism, “inspirado na pesquisa da antropóloga Anna Tsing sobre as inter-relações entre humanos e outros seres vivos” (inspired by the anthropologist Anna Tsing's research on the interrelations between humans and other living beings).

A second canvas, Sistemas Para Fugir da Catástrofe 2, hung on Janaina Torres Galeria's stand at the first ArtSampa in São Paulo in March 2022.
