Michelle Galaviz (b. 1994) is a Mexican painter from Durango. She graduated in visual arts from the Escuela de Pintura, Escultura y Artesanías of the Universidad Juárez del Estado de Durango (UJED).
In a 2022 Secretaría de Cultura profile she called figurative painting, above all the psychological portrait, her “pretexto visual,” and said she has always thought of her work as a self-portrait. She told Vanguardia in 2022 that her early series dealt with childhood and the family portrait.
In 2018 she received a state PECDA grant, in its Jóvenes Creadores category, for A imagen y semejanza. She won the Premio Estatal de Pintura Guillermo Bravo Morán for the painting Cuidados preoperatorios. Los malos comensales, a series she has described as being about emotional hunger, opened in August 2022 at the Centro Cultural La Besana in Saltillo as her first solo show outside Durango, and traveled that year to Real de Catorce. In December 2023 it came to Galería Mac Atelier in Durango, with new work added, as 20 pieces and an installation of 15 altered porcelains.
Her Vivario Doméstico paintings, several of them oils on canvas of 100 by 80 cm, take their name from the vivarium, which she introduced with a definition: a closed space for keeping and raising animals or plants for observation. Factible gave the series a solo show at Galería Origen in Mexico City, opening January 24, 2025. From May to August 2025 she was one of six Durango artists in Rituales mínimos at Galería Enrique Guerrero in Mexico City. In 2026 she showed Exvoto VII (sahumerio), an oil on wood from her series Plegarias y rituales, in Una ficción de lo que se hereda, seven women artists from Ecuador and Mexico curated by Gabriela Moyano at Islera, Mexico City, from September 5 to October 12, 2026.
