Mark English (1933–2019) was one of America's leading magazine illustrators, painting for The Saturday Evening Post, Reader's Digest, Sports Illustrated and Time; the Society of Illustrators elected him to its Hall of Fame in 1983. In 1996 he turned almost entirely to painting for galleries, and Jones & Terwilliger Galleries writes that he "creates rich patterns using simplified geometric shapes and abstract planes."
